The novel Ch'i Wang, or "Chess King," was published in 1975.  Authored by 張系國, a scientist (currently chairman of the Univ. of Pittsburgh's Department of Computer Science) who is known, in Taipei principally, as a frequent author of science fiction published in the newspapers, it is written in a lively colloquial style and thus a good material for students who are interested in the contemporary Taipei idioms.  The novel also comes with a glossary volume edited and published by ICLP in 1985.
