This book uses dialogues between university students about their campus activities and associated holidays enabling students to use Chinese in a variety of assorted discussions. Given that situations vary from countries to countries and that more Americans are studying Chinese in recent years, the compilers of this book have chosen America as a backdrop. Hence, the teaching material differs from other textbooks.
This book also gives brief introductions to Taiwan's history, geography, society and a few Chinese customs in hopes that students will learn the differences between Chinese and non-Chinese culture.
The book contains 13 chapters. Students are expected to learn approximately 469 vocabulary words and 41 grammatical patterns after completing this book.
