Practical Audio-Visual Chinese II

#Elementary 初級

This book uses dialogues between university students about their campus activities and associated holidays enabling students to use Chinese in a variety of assorted discussions.  Given that situations vary from countries to countries and that more Americans are studying Chinese in recent years, the compilers of this book have chosen America as a backdrop. Hence, the teaching material differs from other textbooks.

This book also gives brief introductions of Taiwan’s history, geography, society and few Chinese customs, in the hopes that students will learn the differences between Chinese and non-Chinese culture.

The book has 28 chapters, and is suited for a 25-week course, but instructors can choose to skip certain lessons.  Students are expected to learn approximately 900 Chinese characters, 1,800 vocabulary words and more than 250 grammatical patterns after completing this book.
