Practical Audio-Visual Chinese I
This course is designed for those who have no previous knowledge of spoken and written Chinese. There are twelve lessons in the course text which focus on basic pronunciation, syntax and vocabulary. The goal of this course is to help students acquire all four language skills of modern Chinese: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The content of conversation is diverse, including everyday greetings, self-introductions, shopping, entertainment, traveling, weather, sports and more. All texts are presented in both MPS (Mandarin Phonetic Symbols) and the Pinyin system. English translations are also provided for student's reference, as well as accompanying audio and video materials and a workbook. After completing this course, students will have learned approximately 461 vocabulary words and 49 grammatical patterns.
